About the school

Firebirds Flight Academy (DTO-2) is based at Katowice-Muchowiec airfield (EPKM) and trains pilots for the aerobatic (aircraft) additional rating, alongside UPRT ADVANCED training (upset prevention and recovery). Flights are flown in an Extra 330LC aerobatic aircraft; the school also offers familiarisation flights with aerobatic elements.

A DTO is a lighter-weight form of training organisation, declared to ULC without full ATO certification. For a PPL(A) candidate it leads to exactly the same licence — DTOs are usually narrower in scope (e.g. PPL/LAPL only) and are often a cheaper, local option.
