About the school

HeliMax Sp. z o.o. is a Warsaw-based company founded in September 2018, combining helicopter pilot training (DTO) with full technical support — the company held a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation certificate (PL.CAMO.0005) and an ULC-approved maintenance organisation certificate (PL.145.107). Its training and maintenance base was at Lądowisko EPGN in Gliniany Las (Smyków). Theory training combined in-person lectures with an e-learning platform; the CPL(H) pathway included over 100 hours of theory and 50 hours of flight training, concluding with the state exam at LKE.

Note

The former site (helimax.pl) also advertised scenic/sightseeing flights and passenger transport under a separate AOC certificate — this is NOT a DTO training discovery flight, so it was not recorded as discoveryFlight. The archived site listed the company's general aircraft roster (Bell 206/407/427/429/505, Robinson R22/R44/R66) covered under its CAMO/AOC/maintenance certificates, without stating which machines are used for DTO training specifically, so it was not recorded as fleet (the ULC register's TR training scope for this DTO covers R44, R66 and Bell 505).

What this means for you

A DTO is a lighter-weight form of training organisation, declared to ULC without full ATO certification. For a PPL(A) candidate it leads to exactly the same licence — DTOs are usually narrower in scope (e.g. PPL/LAPL only) and are often a cheaper, local option.
